Windows 10 is the latest and quite secure operating system of Microsoft. Windows 10 offers some of the free updates with the first year. You can download the latest version of Windows 10 on the official website of Microsoft. The printer mainly faces some of the problems when the Windows 10 update or upgrades its software. Windows could not find the printer and the printer driver and other software. So this problem affects the printer mainly to reconnect it with a computer or laptop.
Once windows 10 upgraded you need to check all the drivers, Softwares and applications installed in the computer are working properly. The printer is connected to the computer with the Windows 10 operating system. The printer is working well and prints scan the entire document properly. When the computer got an update notification from Windows 10, then it may be affected by printer settings.
There are so many reasons behind the printer that could not connect with the computer, printer driver not found, printer driver not available, print spooler not in service and so on. If your printer is not working when you installed the latest version of Windows 10, it means you need to install the printer driver on your computer. The latest update corrupts all the drivers preinstalled in it or it may be not compatible with the new version of Windows 10. This problem mainly appears in Windows 10, not on Windows 7 and 8.1.
There are some steps and points which help to reconnect the printer to the computer.
Printer not working on Windows 10:
- To fix the issue first make sure you restart the computer at once after update Windows.
- Check the printer is properly connected to the computer with a USB cable.
- Also, make sure the internet network is attached to your computer whether it is wired or WiFi network connection.
After checking all the above points, the printer is not working, check your printer is installed or not. Click on the Start button on the computer and go to Settings, then select Devices and click Printer & Scanners.
If your printer is detected by Windows then it is listed in the main Window. The printer is not detected by the window and not showing in main windows then you need to click on Add a printer or scanner. After adding it, you can wait while the window detects your printer.
If the printer is Old:
If window 10 cannot detect your printer, you can add it manually by click on Add a printer/scanner. You can go on Add a printer/scanner from Devices and Printers in Control panel. When your printer is a bit older and not showing in the list, then you can choose the first option "My printer is a little older, help me find it" and click Next. Windows 10 will search your PC again to connect printer and, probably, detect yours and install it.
Check the Network connectivity:
If you are using a Bluetooth / Wireless printer: Add Bluetooth, Wireless or Network Searchable Printer> Choose Printer> Choose your printer and follow the screen instructions.
If you are using a wired printer: Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings, then select an existing port and then, select your printer and follow the screen directions.
While installing and configure if you ask for the driver, you can either select the path you downloaded or install it on your computer. After complete all connections, just try to print the test page and check if print well.
Printer Driver Issue:
In most cases when we installed the update of Windows 10, there is the possibility to corrupt the installed printer driver or maybe not compatible with the upgraded version of Windows 10. For that, you can check and download the latest driver available on the official website of the printer brand. And this is compatible with the new updated version of Windows 10. Download the printer driver software and save it to the local drive in the computer.
When you install the new printer driver make sure first remove the old corrupted printer driver.
> Remove the device: Open Printers & Scanners, then Select the printer and Remove device.
> Remove the installed printer driver: Open Control Panel, then Programs and Features and then Right-click on the installed printer driver and select Uninstall.
After removing drivers and device please restart the windows to remove it permanently.

Troubleshoot a printer:
In every window, there is a troubleshooting tool that is particularly designed to handle various printer issues. The main printer problem that can troubleshoot like, Print spooler not working, could not connect to Windows printer, printer driver not found or printer driver unavailable, print spooler service not running and more. If you find any of these problems, then run the print troubleshooter and windows will fix the errors itself.
- You can troubleshoot the printer after Go on settings in Windows to troubleshoot the printer. Select Update & security in Setting and then click on Troubleshoot.
- After choosing to troubleshoot, there are some option which you need to select and you click on the printer which you want to troubleshoot.
- When you click on Printer it will ask you for Run the troubleshooter and click on it.
After complete the process, Restart the windows and then try to print a test document to check is it working?
Check print Spooler:
- Click on the windows start button and type Services.
- In Services find Print spooler and then click on it.
- Check the spooler service is running and startup type in the General tab is set on Automatic.
- Stop the print spooler service and delete all the files in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS.
- After this, again go on Spooler properties, set the startup type Automatic and Start the spooler service.
